About Dr. Brown
Dr. Brown has earned his Doctor of Philosophy in Counseling and Clinical Supervision from UNC Charlotte and his Master of Science in Counselor Education from East Carolina University. Dr. Brown follows the ethical standards of practice established by the American Counseling Association and he is licensed to practice in the state of North Carolina. Dr. Brown has extensive training and over 10 years of experience in individual, family, and group counseling and he has worked with individuals of all ages, from young children to senior citizens. His expertise is geared primarily towards adolescents, teens, and individuals of adult age, mainly with normal situational and developmental issues. He has worked with clients dealing with challenges ranging from low self-esteem and general anxiety to severe depression, trauma, and suicidal ideation. Dr. Brown has counseled in high schools, as well as in higher education environments, including East Carolina University, UNC Charlotte, Central Piedmont Community College and Gaston College. He also possesses ample counseling experience in community mental health centers, group practices, and working with various agencies such as area departments of Social Services and Juvenile Justice. His work and practice has involved the special populations of those with mild to moderate mental and physical health conditions, LGBTQ individuals, military families and veterans, Spanish speaking families, and the disabled.
